Understanding the Early Years
Understanding the Early Years, funded by Human Resources and Social Development Canada, was a three year research project completed in July 2010. The project mapped the early childhood development resources and programs as well as the gaps in services in the West Kootenay region. Project researchers gathered perspectives on kindergarten children's development from teachers, participating parents and children themselves. Information was summarized then presented back to communities such that they can make informed decisions and plans to improve the quality of life for young children.
Several documents were produced as a result of the UEY Project. To view the Understanding the Early Years final mapping report, please click here. To view the Executive Summary, click here.
